Mr. Chain attended the K 2016 show in Düsseldorf, Germany, on October 19 - 26. This is the world's largest plastics and rubber show with 3,285 exhibitors presenting their products and services and approximately 230,000 attendees. The show consisted of 19 buildings of exhibits.
There were many plastic injection molding machines in operation with some of them running cycle times of less than two seconds. Demonstrations of cube molding of parts made in two colors out of two different materials were seen. This technology is a quantum leap in stack-turning mold technology and offers a broad range of possibilities. With all the new technology being presented at the show, it was hard to see everything. There were demonstrations of robots playing basketball to assembling step stools and intricate little boxes, and everything in between.
Naturally, you can't go to Germany without enjoying some of the local favorites such as Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Apple Strudel and of course sampling some of the great tasting beers available.
