M R Products, Inc. is proud to announce our newly established apprenticeship program! We first learned of the Apprenticeship Program, and funding available through the State of Michigan, from Michigan Works! ( )

Ron Heffelfinger, Business Liaison for Manistee County, introduced us to Evelyn Szpliet, the Apprenticeship Success Coordinator. Evelyn guided us through the process and accompanied Marybeth Koski of the United States Department of Labor, for an initial site visit and inspection.

We began researching classes and preparing a work process schedule. We found specialized classes in Scientific Molding through several online sources.

The completed work process schedule and related training instruction outline were submitted to the Department of Labor for approval. After only a few days, we received final approval and became registered with the United States Department of Labor Apprenticeship USA Program.

Wayne Crawford was selected to be the first employee to go through our apprenticeship program. It is a two-year program consisting of 4,000 hours of documented on -the-job learning and 288 classroom hours. Upon completion of the on-the-job learning and online classes, Wayne will be a certified Injection Molding Machine Setter.

M R Products is committed to this apprenticeship program and will offer the program to a new apprentice each year.
